Installing Line 6 driver on Mac OS

This has happened to me several times. After upgrading the Mac OS major version, for instance from Mac OS El Capitan to Mac OS Sierra, Line 6 Pod driver causes Kernel Panics, and sometimes, the Pod is not recognized by the system.

Normally, I wait until the next driver version is released. But normally takes about 5 months since the Mac version release until a new version of the driver is available. Mental Note: if this does not change, the next time I will buy another brand's product.

Last time, each time I tried to install the driver from the Line 6 assistant, the system did not recognize it. The driver was installed, but after rebooting, the assistant did not detect any installed version. The system also did not find the device after it is plugged to the computer.

Solution

The following solution worked me like a charm [1] [2]:

  1. Uninstall drivers using Line6 Uninstaller.
  2. Open System Preferences\Security & Privacy
  3. Install driver from package. Don't install from Monkey as it wouldn't work for me.
  4. As soon as installer launches, Security & Privacy will pop up that "package can't be verified" or something... Just approve it.
  5. Restart

So the problem was just that the system was blocking the package installation, as the developer has not signed the installation package.

What is a pain in the ass is that Line 6 does not provide much support, normally users are who find solutions to their product's problems.
